Professional Trustee Data Requirements (PTDR)

Professional Trustees who designate one or more accounts held with a CDIC Member Institution (MI) as Professional Trustee Accounts must maintain a record of beneficiary information for those accounts.

If an MI should fail, Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation may be obliged to make payments to depositors in accordance with deposit insurance rules. To determine the amounts to be reimbursed, CDIC would access deposit liability information from the failed MI’s systems and, where applicable, request beneficiary information from Professional Trustees for accounts designated Professional Trustee Accounts as at a specific date.

The Professional Trustee Data Requirements (PTDR) outlines the specifications for formatting the Professional Trustee data submission, necessary for CDIC to make a deposit insurance determination.

To further assist Professional Trustees in understanding and implementing PTDR requirements, CDIC has developed the following aids. It is recommended that Professional Trustees download and review these documents.
