Under the guidance of the COO, the Head, Stakeholder Relations oversees the development of CDIC’s stakeholder engagement and communication strategy and plan to achieve CDIC’s vision, goals and promises. This includes ensuring that CDIC has a proactive, integrated, coordinated and consistent approach to communicating and engaging with all external stakeholders.  This role is key in managing CDIC’s reputational risk and safeguarding CDIC’s reputation with external stakeholders and empowers the Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, and International Relations teams to advance CDIC’s interests.

We trust you will be up to the challenge:

  • Identifies and proactively manages external stakeholder relationships in collaboration with subject-matter experts across the organization to ensure accuracy of communications materials and congruence of message in BAU and crisis environments
  • Proactively follows media and stays abreast of key developments impacting CDIC’s stakeholders, to identify opportunities, risks and challenges
  • Guides and manages the international relations team in shaping CDIC’s brand globally and contributing to standards setting in deposit insurance
  • Oversees the development and execution of crisis communications strategies and plans, and messaging
  • Manages public stakeholder relations
  • May be called upon to act as a bilingual spokesperson for CDIC
  • Influences the development of CDIC’s public awareness strategy and accompanying multi-million dollar advertising and marketing budget
  • Partners with the Director Communications and Public Affairs to create social, digital and traditional media strategies and tools
  • Maintains strong knowledge of CDIC issues and priorities
  • Mentors and coaches communications and international relations leaders

About you

You take pride in your work and are passionate about having an impact. You face challenges head-on, are an excellent communicator, collaborator and act with integrity.

We trust you will bring your expertise:

  • 7+ years managing a team of professionals in a variety of disciplines
  • Advanced degree in Public Policy, Communications, International Relations, Journalism, Business or related field
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Exceptional communicator in both English and French
  • Proven ability to tease out complex issues into relatable and relevant content for broader consumption
  • Proven ability to execute to plan. Project management experience (PMP) an asset
  • Media relations experience, an asset
  • Grace under pressure
