Ms. Jacques was appointed to the position of Assistant Deputy Minister, Financial Sector Policy Branch at the Department of Finance on August 23, 2021.
Prior to her appointment, Isabelle served as Assistant Deputy Minister for the Central Agencies Portfolio at Justice Canada starting in March 2017 where she was the principal legal advisor to the Deputy Minister of the Department of Finance on a wide range of areas including financial institutions, tax policy, trade issues, securities and capital markets regulation, financial administration and Crown corporations, as well as the development and implementation of the federal budget. She also oversaw the provision of legal advice to Portfolio clients through six legal services including Finance Canada, the Treasury Board Secretariat, the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada, the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada and the Public Service Commission.
Ms. Jacques joined the Department of Justice in 1999 and held successive positions at Environment Canada Legal Services, Transport Canada Legal Services, Global Affairs Canada Legal Services, and as the Deputy Assistant Deputy Minister for the Business and Regulatory Law Portfolio.
Ms. Jacques holds a Bachelor of Biochemistry, a Bachelor of Economics and an L.L.B. from the Faculty of Common Law from the University of Ottawa. She was called to the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1993.
