David Dominy

(private sector Director)

David Dominy is a senior business leader with extensive national and international experience in financial services, financial service regulation, private equity, oil and gas production, transportation and services, and e-commerce. He is an expert in corporate turnarounds, strategic development, board governance, financial management and analysis, risk management, corporate planning, marketing and investor relations.

Mr. Dominy has over 25 years’ experience as CEO of publicly-listed, private and Crown corporations, as well as having started five companies in the natural gas services space. From 2014 to 2022, he was CEO of FIRMA Foreign Exchange Corporation, one of Canada’s largest domestically owned global payments and foreign exchange brokerages. During his tenure, he led the turnaround, restructuring and recapitalization of the firm, leading ultimately to recognition as one of the country’s “Best Managed Companies” and sale in May of 2022.

He is a seasoned board director, having Chaired boards and all committee types in a range of public, private, Crown and not for profit organizations.

He holds a Masters of Management in finance and accounting from the J.L.Kellogg School of Management,  a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Winnipeg, and holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
