CDIC recently formed, within the Chief Risk Officer’s office, a new Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Crisis Simulations to ensure the Corporation has a dedicated, systematic and comprehensive approach to testing crisis response capabilities in a manner that is aligned with its enterprise risk framework. The Senior Analyst will be an integral part of two workstreams of the Emerging Risks group: quantitative modelling and research. As part of the modelling workstream, the incumbent will work to develop the scenario-generation and satellite models of the solvency stress-testing workstream (and other statistical/economic models as required), which focuses on small and medium-sized banks. As part of the research workstream, the incumbent will aid in the formulation and execution of research projects that are relevant for CDIC, with the aim of presenting at inter-agency committees such as SRAC and specialization conferences such as the IADI Research Conference. This work will contribute to the thought leadership objective in CDIC’s Corporate Plan along with strengthening CDIC’s contributions to ongoing priorities amongst the financial safety-net agencies.

The Managing Director will oversee the modernization of CDIC’s reimbursement/payout capabilities for day-of-failure reimbursement/payout capability with a focus on: delivering alternative methods of reimbursement/payout for all types of depositor, insurance category and member financial institution (reducing the corporation’s reliance on cheques as the primary method of claim reimbursement/payout); providing cloud-based, secure solutions for depositor communications; and solving member-centric and broker-centric options for provision, compliance, attestation of quality data for rapid insurance determination and reimbursement/payout.
