Lucie Tedesco

(ex officio Director)

Ms. Tedesco was appointed Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) Commissioner on September 4, 2013.

Previously, she was Deputy Commissioner, a role she held since June 2008.

In the fall of 2013, Ms. Tedesco was appointed Vice-Chair of the International Financial Consumer Organisation (FinCoNet), an association of supervisory authorities responsible for financial consumer protection.

A member of the Ontario Bar, Ms. Tedesco is an experienced financial services professional, having held senior leadership roles with major Canadian financial institutions such as: Counsel (Metropolitan Life); Director, Customer Service and Administration (Metropolitan Life); and Director, Retail Service (Clarica).

She is also a faculty member of Osgoode Hall's Regulatory Compliance and Legal Risk Management for Financial Institutions Certificate.

In 2000, Ms. Tedesco joined Export Development Canada (EDC). In her most senior role, that of Vice-President, Insurance & Loans Services, she provided leadership and strategic direction to teams directly servicing EDC customers.

Ms. Tedesco began her career in private practice with Burke-Roberston, Barristers and Solicitors, where she specialized in insurance law.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Lettres françaises) and an LL.B. from the University of Ottawa.
