CDIC does not contact individuals to request their personal information.  Never provide personal financial information, including your Social Insurance Number, account numbers or passwords over the telephone or internet, if you did not initiate the contact.

Please be aware that certain unscrupulous people may seek to obtain your personal financial information by suggesting that bad things will happen if you do not immediately provide or verify your financial information.  Do not provide such information to someone calling or emailing you.

If you are unsure whether a contact is legitimate, go to the company’s web site by typing in the site address or using a page you have previously book marked, instead of using a link provided by the e-mail.
