New Director Appointed to CDIC Board

OTTAWA, Ontario, December 22, 2006 – Shelley Tratch of Vancouver, British Columbia, has been appointed a director of the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC).

Ms. Tratch, a leading corporate and commercial lawyer for more than 23 years and a former senior partner with a large national law firm, takes her position effective immediately. Her appointment as one of the private sector directors of CDIC is for a term of three years.

Currently, Ms. Tratch is a Director of the British Columbia Provincial Health Services Authority, a Director and Vice-Chair of British Columbia Film, a Director of HEABC (Health Employers Association of BC), a Director of CAPCA (Canadian Association of Provincial Cancer Agencies), and a member of the Law Society of British Columbia.

CDIC’s Board of Directors counts among its eleven members: Bryan Davies, Chair of the Board; David Dodge, Governor of the Bank of Canada; Rob Wright, Deputy Minister of Finance; Julie Dickson, Acting Superintendent of Financial Institutions; Ted Price, Assistant Superintendent, OSFI; and Jim Callon, Acting Commissioner of the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada. The remaining five members are from the private sector and, in addition to Ms. Tratch, include Tracey Bakkeli, Claude Huot and Grant Morash, with one vacancy.
